The Research Intensive Summer Experience (RISE)
For sophomores, juniors, or non-graduating seniors; GPA ≥ 3.0. The Research Intensive Summer Experience (RISE) pairs students with faculty mentors to conduct research in a structured 10-week summer program.
Pathway to Graduate School
Through the program, RISE Research Assistants (RAs) learn valuable research skills by working side by side with professors on forefront research projects. Students selected for the program travel to Rutgers with housing and travel costs provided, along with stipends for the duration of the program. The program provides structured opportunities for student researchers to engage in professional development, community building/networking, presenting their research project at the final summer symposium, and assists with creating a pathway to graduate school.
About the Program
RISE Research Assistants are expected to:
- Work on the research project full-time during the 10-week summer program.
- Reside in the Livingston Apartments for the 10-week summer program.
- Attend weekly professional development workshops and weekly seminars.
- Attend weekly/monthly community building events.
- Create and present a poster based on their research at the final symposium.
- Receive generous stipend $6,000-$7,000 to support summer research at Rutgers.
